Yusuf Ismail Abayomi
Founder/Language Data Manager
Yusuf Ismail Abayomi is the founder of Yorlect and a graduate of linguistics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with a deep passion for preservation of African languages. His academic background has equipped him with a strong foundation in linguistic theory, analysis and language documentation. As a researcher and language enthusiast, Yusuf specializes in preserving and promoting Yoruba language in the digital space. Yusuf's aim is to give Yoruba language and all its dialects a digital presence making them strive in the field of natural language processing, artificial intelligence, machine learning and large language model by making available a quality dataset. His dedication to preserve and promote Yoruba language makes him a valuable asset.
Joy Naomi Olusanya
NLP/ ML Lead Engineer
Joy Naomi Olusanya is an NLP engineer and researcher. She finished her undergraduate studies in Linguistics and African Languages. Her work focuses on Natural Language Processing for low-resource languages, covering both text-based and speech-based NLP. She most recently served as a reviewer for the Deep Learning Indaba Ideathon 2025 and currently serves as the Lead Organiser for the Centering Low-Resource Languages and Cultures in the Age of Large Language Models (CLRLC-LLMs) workshop at NeurIPS 2025.
